Taulignan is a village of 1600 inhabitants, an old medieval town dating back to the 14th century with its fortified suburb with eleven towers.
In the 19th century, Taulignan was an industrial center for silk milling which employed several hundred workers.
You can visit the Silk Museum to discover the different life stages of silkworms (from the hatching of the seed to the birth of the worm until its transformation into a butterfly) and the techniques used to make precious silk. fabrics (spinning, throwing, weaving).
A nice walk on "the silk paths" is proposed from the village, traversing and skirting the old mills that existed in Taulignan in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This circuit is 4km, for a duration of 1h to 1h30 with explanatory panels near the main buildings related to the work of silk.
In the village you will find: a bakery, a butcher, cafes, a grocery store, a chocolate factory and an artisanal biscuit factory, a restaurant, a pizzeria, a tobacconist/press and a market on Friday morning with local producers and specialties from the region: fruits, vegetables, cheeses (picodon and others), wine, honey, essential oil of lavender, caillettes.
