Métairie du Château de Villandry "La Saponaire"

The property is lovely, set in a beautiful large garden. The accommodation is great, lovely modern kitchen and bathroom combined with more traditional rooms. Well appointed kitchen with a wide range of equipment, only thing we found was missing were larger knives for food preparation. The cottage stayed lovely and cool in the heat and the outside are was great for sharing meals throughout the day. Our only disappointment was the confusion over the use of the pool on the property. We had booked with the expectation of being able to make use of the shared pool only to find on arrival that because the other two properties were occupied, they had preference over the use. However the agents ensured we were able to make use of it for a short time when the other properties were vacated which was appreciated. My suggestion would be to make it clearer on all the websites advertising this property that the pool is not definitely going to be available for use and to check when booking. When we did get to use it, it was a lovely addition to our stay. The property and grounds were in great condition, clean and well cared for. Check in and check out were easy and the agents were very accommodating to times for arrival and leaving. The surrounding area had lots to offer, local chateaus to visit, beautiful countryside and many other attractions close by to visit. We visited with two young children (1 and 6) and there were activities close by that we all could enjoy. I would definitely recommend this property to others, we had a lovely time here and would return.
