Table tennis Table football Games room Heated pool Playground Bicycle hireWe have created a small complex of four fully furnished, self contained and self catering gîtes together with a chambre d'hôte. In total we have the ability to accommodate 22 people, including 2 guests in our chambre d'hôte.
We are located in the heart of a small village in the Charente Maritime just 8km from the medieval town of Pons. We are surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers. We are just 35 minutes from the beautiful safe sandy beaches of the Gironde Estuary and 45 minutes from the beaches of the Atlantic coast.
All of our properties are fully insulated and have electric radiators in all rooms. All of our beds have foam mattresses, anti-allergy duvets and pillows.
Our gîtes are truly child friendly with electric plug socket covers, a child lock on the kitchen cupboard under the kitchen sink, non-slip shower trays and a motion detector night light on the landing. You can also reserve, at no cost at the time of booking, a travel cot (no linen provided), bed-guard, stair-gate, high chair, bedroom night-light, baby bath and potty.
You will have full access to all the facilities on site. These include a heated saltwater swimming pool (11m x 5m), laundry, library with a collection of DVDs & books (French and English) and tourist information. Indoor games room with table football, table tennis, board games and games for the garden. We also have a large (50m2) covered and secure toddler's play area in the garden with a ball tent, swing, slide, colouring desk etc.
We have a magnificent Grande Salle (function room) which is capable of comfortable seating 50 guests. This former Chai (wine storage barn) measures approximately 90m2 and is an adaptable space. It can be hired for a multitude of events such as receptions, exhibitions, exercise classes etc. We can arrange catering for large parties.
In the garden we have a study swing and slide combination, boules court, large trampoline, various games, picnic tables and chairs.
Free Wi-fi is available in the gîtes and throughout the grounds.
Gift during your stay : Our Welcome Pack normally includes a fresh baguette, a local cheese, aperitif biscuits, a bottle of beer for each adult, a carton of fruit juice for each child and a bottle of wine.

The deposit is non refundable, unless a result of exceptional circumstances such as a global pandemic in which as we will consider a full reimbursement. Otherwise, if you do need to cancel your reservation, we will attempt to re-let the period that you booked. If we are successful we will reimburse you the balance of the rental after deduct of our costs, for instance our social contributions / tax, administration costs etc.

Other conditions
Supplementary Terms & conditions applicable to a let of 1 month or more:
1. The Client agrees to pay the Owner the first months rent and the security deposit in advance of the commencement of the rental period. Thereafter the rent shall be payable during the third week of each month for the following month. A breach of this condition will result in the immediate cancellation of the rental agreement, at the sole discretion of the Owner.
2. The Client will provide their own bedding (duvets, pillows, sheets, pillow cases) and towels for the bathroom, kitchen and swimming pool. There is a laundry, with washing machines, an iron and ironing board in the Maison du Vigneron.
3. The Client will be responsible for keeping the gîte clean and tidy throughout the rental period. At the end of the rental period it should be left in the same condition as it was at the time of the Client’s arrival. The Owner will undertake a joint
inspection of the gîte, with the Client, each month, at a time convenient to the Client.
4. The Owner expects the gîte to be left in the same condition as it was when the Client arrived. If it is not then we will deduct 100€ from the deposit to enable us to arrange cleaners at short notice. However, if the Client prefers, the Owner can arrange for the gîte to be cleaned after the Client has departed. In this case the Client must advise the Owner at least 2 weeks ahead of departure so that the Owner may arrange a cleaner at the Client’s expense. The Owner will advise the Client of the cost of cleaning prior to his / her departure and the Client agrees to pay this sum to the Owner immediately.
5. The Client will be responsible to pay the Owner the full cost of electricity that is used during his stay. The Client will agree the initial meter reading with the Owner upon arrival. The Client will reimburse the Owner monthly. There are two other gîtes in the Maison du Vigneron. If either of these gîtes are let during your stay the Owner will use the previous week’s meter reading to reflect the Clients usage during that period, in order to ensure that the Client is not overcharged.
And, as always:
1. No pets are permitted within the grounds or accommodation.
2. We operate a strict no smoking policy. No smoking, including e-cigarettes, is permitted within the gîtes, on the grounds or in any other accommodation.

By Road:
If you are heading to us from the North, then you can come off the A10 Autoroute (motorway) at exit 35 (Saintes) and you are then 25 minutes away. This is slightly quicker and cheaper (toll) than continuing to exit 36. However, you can continue to exit 36 (Pons) where you will find a Leclerc supermarket, should you wish to buy some food before you arrive.
From the South, you should come off the A10 at exit 36 (Pons) and you are then 10 minutes away. From here you will pass the Leclerc supermarket at Pons should you want to do a quick shop.
Once in Saint Seurin de Palenne you're home and dry - we are on the main road that runs through the village, approximately 70m from the Mairie (Town Hall) on the same side of the road.
Eurotunnel -
Eurotunnel is our preferred route from the UK.
The journey from Calais is approximately 770kms on predominantly dual carriageways and motorways, with tolls (allow around 75 euros each way - quickest is to pay by credit card). The journey, non-stop, takes approximately 7 hours.
We normally allow 10 hours for the journey aiming to stop three times, once for lunch with a coffee / comfort break either side of lunch and an extra hour for possible incidents ‘en route’.
By Ferry
The port of Calais is approximately 770kms away (7:00 hours non-stop),
The port of Le Havre is approximately 660kms (5:15 hours) away, Caen is around 520kms (4:45 hrs) and St Malo 440kms (4:15 hrs).
By Air:
Bordeaux and La Rochelle (seasonal opening) are both around 1 hour - 1:15 hours away with easy access to either the Autoroutes or Routes Nationales. There are also airports at Limoges (under 2 hours away), Poitiers (1:30 hours) and Bergerac (2:30 hours).
By train:
The TGV stops at Angoulême. The station is approximately 50 minutes away by car. The LGV links Paris to Bordeaux with a journey time of just over 2 hours. There are SNCF stations in both Cognac & Saintes which are around 20 mins from us, by car. There is a small railway station in Pons, on the Bordeaux - La Rochelle line (Line 17) but the service to Pons is limited to about 7 - 10 trains per day.

The ground floor includes a large fully fitted kitchen, lounge area with 2 sofas, an armchair, 2 bean bags, dining table & 8 chairs, TV, satellite & DVD player.There are three types of coffee machine in each gîte, a cafetièrre / press, a filter coffee machine and a Dolce Gusto machine.
