Gîte Lou Messugo

Yes again Lou Messugo excels with its charm, convenience and relaxed atmosphere. This was my fifth visit and Phoebe and Jeff are still running a wonderful gite, with all that u need, and close to everything. They are impeccable hosts! While we visited, the first Messugo flowers were blooming, just for us!

Très bon séjour dans cette belle région. Le gîte est parfait et au calme. Tout a été prévu pour faciliter notre séjour. Nous avons particulierement apprecié la discretion des propriètaires. Nous retenons l'adresse et la conseillerons avec plaisir.

Heureusement pour nous, nous avons pu profiter d'une annulation en août à un tarif très raisonnable. Nous étions restés avec Phoebe et sa charmante famille à Lou Messugo il y a 5 ans, et nous savions que nous étions très chanceux d'avoir à nouveau l'opportunité. L'appartement lui-même est magnifiquement mais simplement décoré avec tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour un séjour relaxant et tant de petites attentions spéciales. Il a une entrée séparée de la maison principale et vous pouvez avoir autant ou aussi peu d'interaction que vous le souhaitez avec les hôtes (bien que vous devriez au moins profiter de leur incroyable connaissance de la région). La piscine et le jardin sont magnifiques et vous pouvez facilement vous promener dans la ville locale si vous voulez rester près de chez vous. De même, les plages de la Côte d'Azur sont très proches, tout comme de nombreuses villes historiques des collines où les paysages et les vues sont tout simplement imbattables. Il y a vraiment quelque chose pour tout le monde juste à la porte et le soleil est à peu près garanti. J'espère vraiment qu'il ne faudra pas attendre encore 5 ans avant de pouvoir revenir.

A lovely gite within reach of Nice, beautiful beaches, rivers, hilltop villages and mountains. Perfect for visits all year round.

I first booked this before Covid, so it's been a long time coming. Phoebe and J-F ('Jeff') are lovely hosts, welcoming, helpful, but not in your face. The gite felt very private and had everything we needed. It was super hot, but the fans did the trick and it wasn't too hot to sleep. Amenities and good restaurants were within walking distance, although I confess we were lazy and drove anyway! The pool was a delight, very private and just the right temperature in this hot weather. The surroundings were nice and quiet, which was a relief as we live in the countryside and are not used to noise. There was so much to do! I was with my 13-year-old daughter and we went to Vieux Nice (shopping and a swim in the sea), a lovely beach recommended by Phoebe (see her blog on beaches) at Theoule, a freezing cold river, again recommended by Phoebe (see her blog on rivers!). If it had been cooler we would definitely have embarked on a hike or two higher up in the mountains. Just enough time to laze around the pool a bit and then sadly it was all over. We would never have found the beach or river without Phoebe's recommendations, so thank you! I just wish we'd had time to visit them all...

On a passé un très bon moment chez Lou Messugo. Nos hôtes nous on fait sentir comme chez nous. C’est facile d’arriver, confortable, bien situé. J’ai hâte au prochain séjour.

We had a fabulous three days at Lou Messugo. The apartment was lovely, but three days was not enough to appreciate all this area has to offer, although we tried our best. The accommodation is superb, and Phoebe and Jeff have thought of everything, including making sensible changes in light of the current virus situation. I can’t recommend it enough. It is clean, comfortable, quiet and with easy access to everywhere you would want to visit for a coast and mountain holiday on the Côte d’Azur. For cyclists like us, the cycling here is superb.

Phoebe and Jeff were perfect hosts, discreet, but always happy to help and offer advice on places to go. Without Phoebe’s tips on Antibes, we might have missed so much.
