MOUNTAIN COTTAGE IN THE HEART OF THE PYRENEES, Hautes-Pyrénées, Les Baronnies

The Baronnies south of Tarbes are a Pyrenean piedmont (between 200 and 1921metres) enclosed between two known valleys: the Aure valley which via the station of Saint-Lary leads in Spain and the Adour valley which via Bagnères-de-Bigorre and La Mongie leads to the Tourmalet pass (mythical cycling pass).

This piedmont away from the big resorts is a peaceful area, natural territory particularly preserved, forests, important wildlife, hills, pastures, herds of sheep and cows, rivers, torrents, waterfalls. Peasant agriculture (traditional farmers and young producers) and many villages, whose architecture has remained unchanged since the 19th century, are still resisting.

Our cottage is located in the middle of the Baronnies in a pass 620 meters above the village of Asque. The view is very clear on the snowy peaks in winter.

- Ideal for hiking on all levels (lots of easy walks around the house + the famous Asque guru) and for cycling.

- Fishing in the Arros

- 2 PPS at 13 or 15 km,

- golf at 15 km,
- natural sites including the unmissable site of Esparros at 6km and the guru of Asque also known as "La petite Amazonie"

- cultural sites, including the Abbey of Escaladieu at 12km (many shows and exhibitions), and Bagnères de Bigorre, a very pretty spa town.

- Ski. Cross-country skiing in Payolle at 25 km, track skiing in Saint Larry (at 45mn) and La Mongie (1 hour), snowshoeing in the places near the cottage if there is enough snow;

- For children, in Lannemezan, 18km away, a quality leisure park of 7 ha.
