Granville is located on the English Channel at the end of the natural region of the Cotentin. She closes the north bay of Mont Saint-Michel and the coast south of Havre.
The upper town is located on a peninsula surrounded by shale cliffs called Pointe du Roc or Cap Lihou.
The town has four beaches, a peninsula between the north and the river, three south of the bay.
