The Piton de la Fournaise, which rises to 2632 meters, is the active volcano on the island of Reunion. It corresponds to the top and eastern flank of Piton de la Fournaise, a shield volcano that constitutes 40% of the island in its southeastern part.

The Piton de la Fournaise has the Kilauea, Etna and Stromboli, among the most active volcanoes in the world and one of the most watched. Since 1998, one or more eruptions occur every year. However, it is sometimes possible to go out on-site projections and lava flows.
