Phare de Pen-Men

Lighthouse-Men Pen is a house-lighthouse on the island of Groix, Morbihan in the south-east of Pen-Men.

It was built in 1836 and commissioned in 1839.

In 1798, construction of a lighthouse was begun, not far from the location of the current lighthouse. It was interrupted, however, lightning had struck the building. The current lighthouse consists of a square tower on top of a rectangular building that houses two rooms and engine rooms and the beacon.

Note that this lighthouse is the most powerful of Morbihan with a range of 29 miles or about 54 km. It is automated, but guarded.
