The museum traces the history of the prison of the seventeenth century to the present. During the visit, the speakers of the Tourist Office will help you better understand the universe of inmates, through exceptional collections: furniture, doors, machines and objects of everyday life, most unusual of prohibited items, mug shots, valuable books, handwritten letters from prisoners who are none other than François Villon, the Marquis de Sade, Mirabeau, Jean Genet, Louis Ferdinand Celine ... This majestic building is very representative of the nineteenth century prison architecture. You will certainly be impressed by the magnificent nave of detention with passageways on two floors, around which are arranged thirty cells.
