The institution is essentially contemporary tables provided by Francois Mitterrand during his leadership. Three rooms expose the Gallo-Roman ruins from the town of Compierre, and precious jewels Merovingian. Other archaeological finds come from Corvol-pride. Fine Arts collection includes paintings and sculptures of the sixteenth century to the twenty-first century. Among the paintings of old school French, Italian and Nordic, are works by Fragonard, Stoskopff, Vernet, etc.. It is there also the only known picture to date of Roger de Piles (1635-1709), a native of Clamecy theorist of art during the reign of Louis XIV. The museum holds the largest collection of works by the poster Loupot Charles (1892-1962), who worked for famous brands: L'Air Liquide, Saint Raphael, Valentine to name a few. Old earthenware from Nevers Clamecy and illustrate the changing scenery, from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century, and some events, such as the French Revolution. One room is dedicated to Romain Rolland, born in Clamecy in 1866 and died at Vezelay in 1944. The life and work of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1915 are referred to by the furniture he used, personal memories and photographs. Finally, the room floating traces the activity of the log of the Morvan in Paris, which made the reputation of Clamecy the sixteenth to the nineteenth century.
