The museum is named after a local scholar, Alphonse Georges Poulain, who bequeathed to the city's archaeological collections in 1927. Been specializing in wildlife art (Bugatti, Pompon, Jouve ...), with a rich collection by rolling, it is also an essential step of the visit of Giverny, with its paintings by Monet and artists who lived there (Butler, Mac Monnies, Hoschedé-Monet ...). Paintings by Bonnard, who was, in Vernon, near the Monet between 1912 and 1926 - and the Nabis (Vuillard, Denis, Vallotton) enrich the section on landscapes of the region.
