Le pont doré

The name of the town comes from the golden bridge, perhaps because of the color of the stone bridge.

At the end of the thirteenth century, a commandery was founded by the monks hermits of the order of St. Anthony, the Antonines, limousine on the way of the pilgrimage of Saint Jacques de Compostela. This fortress here has a collegiate church and a mill and is located near the bridge that crosses the publican Bassanne. All will become subsequently owned by the Order of Malta and in the Revolution, the commandery and the mill will be sold as national property, the church remains state property and therefore the municipality.
