Overlooking the medieval village of Saint Saturnin and facing its Romanesque church, the Chateau Royal de Saint Saturnin is the stronghold of the family of La Tour d'Auvergne since 1281. It has belonged to Queen Catherine de Medici and Marguerite de Valois, then to King Louis XIII. Beautifully restored, this important fortress is a perfect example of military architecture of the Middle Ages moats, ramparts and battlements, towers and crenellated battlements. It was enlarged and embellished until the end of the fifteenth century under the influence of the Renaissance.

Its park and gardens are being restored, are the lush hills of the Natural Park of the Volcanoes. The dungeon through the courtyard and the terrace overlooking the park, to the wonderful structures of the fifteenth, the visit of the historic monuments in 1889, you discover its large rooms and furnished the bedroom of Queen Catherine de Medici.
