The castle dates back to 1147 Ravel and its first occupant was Pierre de Ravel. He became royal property under Philip III the Bold and Philip the Fair. As a result of inheritance, it is for families Chauvigny, d'Amboise, the Rochefoucanît, Combourcier du Terrail and d'Estaing. It was purchased in 1806 by Charles de Riberolles Beaucens and, to date, remains the same family still owns. This powerful medieval castle with its tower of the XIII century and its five towers, one octagonal end of XVIII was embellished by Admiral d'Estaing which you can admire many memories of diving.

Three new rooms are open to visitors from l July 2000.
- Part of the stables of the seventeenth
- The Hall of States with one of the first heraldic friezes dating back to XIII of France.
- An exhibition of ceramics made in the nineteenth castle. All furnished and inhabited, is perfectly preserved and a large terrace designed by Le Nôtre dominates the plain of Limagne and shows visitors the chain of domes and Mont Dore. (Viewpoint)
