In the Middle Ages, "a rock" called a castle built on a hill.

The castle of the viscounts of Foucault, the "rock" de Foucauld gave the name to the city, La Rochefoucauld. Since the tenth century, the castle is owned by the same family.

Of course, the medieval building has undergone some changes over the centuries, making it more user-friendly and above all comfortable. The Renaissance was partly inspired by Leonardo da Vinci and is reminiscent of some of the castles of the Loire.
