850 years ago, January 22, 1151, the Lord of Faucigny, Aymond, signed the founding act of a Chartreuse on his land, in the high desert of Béole. For over seven centuries, the Carthusians cleared and pray on the mountain which they called the altar. In 1907 the monastery was bought by a company that organizes a hotel with great difficulty, the 1914 war does not give long-term: the Certosa remains to be abandoned ... In 1922, the Bishop of Annecy, Mgrde the Villerabel asks the Prioress of the Caramel of Paray Monial, Mother Mary of Jesus (di Rudini) to take over with her daughters in prayer. It will take years of work to repair, adjust and even adapt, transform the monastery in Caramel. In 1932, an October 15, the feast of SteThérèse of Avila, revived the monastic life, simple, hardworking, fellowship, prayer life substantially.
