Marseille Provence Airport (IATA: MRS • ICAO code: LFML), formerly known as Marseille Marignane, is an international airport, located in the town of Marignane in Bouches-du-Rhone.
The airport is about halfway between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. Having developed until 2000 (including a flight to New York by UTA early 1990), it then undergoes the aftermath of competition on the axis of the TGV Paris-Marseille (three hours for trains ), the slowdown in global air traffic after the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the collapse of several operators such as AOM, Air Liberte, Sabena and Swissair.
