The climate is pleasant and moderate, with sunshine of nearly 2600 h / year.

In addition to calm and tranquility, there are all the shops and services needed to satisfy both the local population and the many holidaymakers during the summer season.
Port des Barques is an integral part of the Marennes-Oléron basin, which produces nearly 60% of the French consumption of oysters, and as such enjoys an exceptional quality of water for growing shellfish (fishing on foot possible) .
In terms of history, Port des Barques also has a history of interest and is part of a culturally rich region: Brouage, Rochefort, Saintes, La Rochelle ...
