Hiking trails Bike pathThe Four A Pain is the second labuttardiere structure (Google Geolocation), nestled in the small hamlet of " the Bauchez-Dessou", in the town of St Georges d'Hurtières and its" Le Grand Filon" mining site.
The cottage is welcoming and warm, built as its name suggests above the family bread oven, typical of Savoy. Freshly renovated, with noble sustainable and ecological materials (cork, slates, paints, organic varnish) everything for your comfort.
Le Four à Pain, Savoie, Maurienne is located in the middle of mother nature, forests, surrounded by beautiful mountains, enough to trudge, hike, follow the trails ("GR738", " l'echappée Belle"," l'Arbarine" , climbing, skiing, in the best places of Maurienne it's possible (30/40 min) of St François Longchamp le grand Domaine, La Norma and many more.
Or if the snow is at "the Bauchez-Dessous" it is snowshoes right from thr cottage's threshold
In summer, challenge yourself on bikes or motorbikes on the slopes of the legendary passes of the Tour De France. (Croix de Fer, Galibier, Madeleine ...) only a few steps from the" Four à Pain".
Or simply take a dip in the lake of the Hurtières (8 min) by car. Then autumn arrives, it's harvest time, in the Buttardiere (chestnuts, walnuts, blueberries mushrooms). So right from the doorstep of the" Four à Pain" it is : sports, leisure, relaxation or daydreams...the choice is yours.

A43 exit: Aiton then direction Aiguebelle, at the exit turn right towards St Georges d'Hurtieres, Col du Grand Cucheron climb for about 5 km and at the entrance of the village, (chalet on your left) turn right at the Pitcher stay on the right, take the big bend towards the Grand Filon mine site.
Pass the place called Froide Fontaine and on the donkey continue for 100 m, and on the left four mailboxes + sign of La Buttardière (on your left), sting in the road and we are the 2nd house (big building especially not the first with blue shutters) after a bend and continue up to the courtyard (several buildings) there you have arrived at your destination. Park to the right of the Fountain.
Otherwise 2nd itinerary (if you come from Italy).
So A43 exit St pierre de Belleville take the direction Col du Grand Cucheron and straight into the mountain, continue on St Georges d'Hurtières straight, (especially, do not turn left at the small crossroads (St Alban d'Hurtières) so straight ahead and cross the village and at the exit take a left at the Pichet and stay on the right towards the Grand Filon site (see above for final directions.)

"Bonheur assuré"
Sourire, chaleur humaine et petits plats, voilà ce que je retiens de mon séjour. Les murs de cette ancienne ferme restaurée avec goût raconte l'histoire de ce pays de montagne. J'ai eu l'impression de passer 4 jours en famille, avec en prime quelques morceaux de piano (certains de jazz très apaisants) en guise d'apéritif. Merci Nicole pour ces moments de sérénité

Oui c'est vrai le bonheur est dans les prés les sentiers les forêts,les trails.....Mais que serait tout cela sans la bonne humeurs des voyageurs. Merci a vous pour ces moments partagés surtout en cette folle période de pandémie.
C'est avec plaisir que nous partageons cette demeure familiale, son histoire , nos passions, et c'est une récompense pour Stephan et moi de voir vos sourires. Ce fût une belle retrouvaille tout en laissant la MJC derrière nous. Les montagnes t'attendent.
