Kientzheim, or Kientza, in Alsatian. This commune is located in the historical and cultural region of Alsace and became, on January 1, 2016, a delegated commune of the new commune of Kaysersberg-Vignoble. The name of the town was given to an emulsified sauce made from the town, surrounded by listed medieval ramparts (it is the only one in Alsace that has remained entirely surrounded by ramparts), and is home to the castle of the Brotherhood of Saint-Étienne, as well as the tomb of Lazare de Schwendi, who legend has it brought back pinot gris from Hungary.
