Our lodging is located in the heart of Comminges, a region privileged by its central position on the edge of the Pyrenees: It is historically a very frequented place of passage: Roman roads, way of Saint-Jacques, passage towards Spain, A64, GR86 , GR861.
There are many archaeological remains and historical monuments (Gargas caves, Roman remains and the collegiate church of Saint-Bertrand de Comminges, villa of Montmaurin, etc.)
For those who are attracted by science and technology, the centers of interest are close: the Pic du Midi observatory, Cité de l'Espace in Toulouse.
Ancient industrial evidence is also numerous: water mills (some of which are still active), old lead, zinc or manganese mines in the mountains.
The owners, mountain and sports enthusiasts (simple walk, cross-country skiing, climbing, canyoning, horse riding ...) will be keen to show you attractive and uncrowded routes (and why not aerial)! You will discover more secret and endearing Pyrenees by going off the beaten track, and will thus have the opportunity to see "Beyond the peaks".
In addition, Castillonnais horse breeders, we can take you to feed the herd near the gîte and, why not, in summer, visit it in summer. (Our stallion, Fusain de Bareille, was selected "Supreme Champion of the breed" in 2017 and represented the association at the 2018 Paris Agricultural Show.)
For the little ones curious about nature, two cameras, installed in the woods of the property, will allow to follow the wild life, and why not, to attend, at night, the passage of a deer or the meal of a fox .
Depending on the season, vegetables from the garden or fruits from the property (apples, lemons, clementines) may be offered to you.
As for those who want to recharge their batteries or take advantage of the hot summer days, lazing around by the river awaits you in little-known and unspoiled corners.
We wish you an unforgettable "nature" stay.
