Gîte Saint Martin

Arriving at St Martin after a visit to the caves at Lascaux was the perfect start to our stay in the Dordogne. My brother and I received a warm welcome from Chantal and John and nothing was too much trouble in ensuring that our stay was both comfortable and productive with any trips we were considering to take. The accommodation was excellent - quiet , comfortable and very well serviced in a magical garden location with an excellent pool - so welcome at the end of a warm day. The location at the end of an interesting town by the Vézere river was perfect for walking to lunch or a coffee out and about. So many interesting sights are available within a leisurely drive from Les Eyzies and the gite St Martin. Thank you so much for an outstanding stay in an exceptional area of France. Can’t wait to return!

We spent two amazing weeks here with our teenage daughters and we all felt very much at home from the moment we arrived. Communication with Chantal was excellent from the time we made the reservation and throughout the whole of our stay. We combined our stay with French lessons with Chantal, who is an excellent (and extremely patient!) teacher. John kept us supplied with delicious fruit and vegetables grown in the garden. Chantal and John were always available to share their local knowledge with us, recommending many interesting places to visit, gastronomic specialities of the region to taste and walking routes to explore. John and Chantal are fantastic hosts and by the end of our stay, felt more like family.

The gite itself is located is in a beautiful and very quiet location and yet is only a 10-minute walk from the town centre where there are a number of high quality bars and restaurants.
In all, we had a wonderful time, so much so that we've booked to return next summer.

Un séjour toujours au top dans le gîte St Martin, pour notre 4ème venue tout est toujours parfait et malgré l'absence de Chantal durant une bonne partie du séjour, John a su assurer! :-)))

We had a wonderful time exploring the area and coming home to our comfortable Gite to relax. The house was roomy and comfortable with a terrace and yard overlooking a vegetable garden with a view of the distant cliffs. Chantal and John were the perfect hosts, giving us information and direction in our daily travels, while also giving us the privacy and space to relax. We highly recommend this Gite and the surrounding area to anyone who wants to explore this lovely river valley in the area of the caves.

Dies ist ein paradiesischer Ort, den man mit dem Zug (aus Berlin) erreichen kann: ein wunderbares Haus mit riesigem Garten, tollen Gastgebern und einer Umgebung, die alles bietet, was es für einen perfekten Urlaub braucht. Wandern, radeln, Höhlen bewundern, Museum besuchen, leckeres Essen auf lokalen Märkten kaufen…Wir haben zu viert 10 wunderbare Tage im April hier verbracht und empfehlen es uneingeschränkt.

C'était notre 2e venue dans ce très beau gite : nous avions été conquis par l'environnement, la région, le gite et surtout la gentillesse , la disponibilité , tous ces échanges avec Les propriétaires. Le soleil était bien présent cette année. Nous nous sommes bien ressourcés au calme.

Nous avons été très bien reçu chez Chantal et John, des propriétaires très charmants et sympathiques qui ont un grand sens du partage! Le gîte est au calme, superbe, et très typique du hameau et de la région. Le jardin est un enchantement à lui seul, on y trouve 1001 fleurs aussi belles les unes que les autres ainsi que de bons légumes... La cerise sur le gâteau, aux noix... , c'est la piscine qui sait vous rafraîchir lors des pointes de chaleur estivale!
Nous y avons séjourné plusieurs fois et espérons y revenir afin de pouvoir toujours découvrir cette belle région qu'est La Dordogne!

Chantal et John nous accueillent avec chaleur et sont très disponibles. Le gîte est très agréable. La région très belle... À refaire

We loved staying at the Gite St. Martin! We immediately felt right at home, enjoying all the comforts and conveniences one could wish for. Chantal and John were super friendly and helpful while ensuring that we felt as if the Gite was our own 'chateau in the Dordogne. A superlative lodging in every way!

Une présence discrète ,une volonté de rendre le séjour agréable. Le meilleur des gîtes que nous avons fréquenté.
